Miscellaneous health tips
a) The ideal weight loss plan. Mix one tablespoon of Bragg's organic apple cider
vinegar (available at your local health food store) with a glass of pure water and
drink several glasses throughout the day. In addition to helping to control weight,
this is also a great way to consume a sufficient volume of water to keep your
body properly hydrated.
b) Depressed? Go somewhere away from traffic (carbon monoxide) and get
20-30 minutes of sunshine (WITHOUT SUNSCREEN) every day that you possibly
can. Sunshine stimulates the body to produce the appropriate level of vitamin D,
which is essential for MANY body functions. Tanning beds are NOT recommended.
Exercise, walk, or practice deep breathing during this time to get plenty of fresh
air (oxygen). Also, do something to help someone else. You will be amazed at
how much better you feel when you focus on someone else besides yourself.
c) Low back pain? If low back pain (or any other pain) is caused by muscle spasms,
taking supplemental magnesium daily (chelated or capsules preferred), may help
to reduce or eliminate the pain. Many people are deficient in magnesium, which is
ESSENTIAL for hundreds of chemical actions in the body. I personally take
600-1200 mg with water each night to help with low back pain that I experienced
for several years before I discovered this solution. Taking too much magnesium
may have a laxative effect, which can be avoided by taking a smaller amount.
d) Help for H. pylori infection. Try mastic gum (available from local or on-line
health food stores) for a few days, as directed on the bottle. In addition to the
mastic gum, Pepto-Bismol (or store brand equivalent) may also be helpful.
e) Men - enlarged prostate? In December 1999, my PSA level was 6.15. I began
taking ten 1,000 mg softgels of flaxseed oil with five teaspoons of low fat cottage
cheese each morning and night. One year later, my PSA level had dropped to
2.4. The only other changes that I made during this time was that I virtually
eliminated red meats and caffeine drinks from my diet, in favor of fish and pure
water. The source for the flaxseed oil softgels that I used is BioNatures, phone
number 1-800-624-7114, or on the internet at www.bionatures.com. Their Vita
Flax product may be an even better choice than the flaxseed oil softgels and low
fat cottage cheese that I used.
f) Two healthy drinks in one. Mix one tablespoon of Bragg's organic apple cider
vinegar with one cup of organic apple juice. Drink it hot or cold or throughout the
day.
g) Mouthwash, gargle solution, and teeth whitener. Hydrogen peroxide (3% solution)
can be purchased at your local supermarket for about $1.00 for a quart bottle.
This is a great mouthwash or gargle solution for killing germs, helping with sore
throats, controlling plaque and bad breath, etc.
